Under-the-Radar College Football Best Bets

Sep 28, 2013

Saturday offers a full card of college football action, but the experts at Pro Edge Sports Picks have uncovered several under-the-radar games that are worthy of consideration by sports bettors.  Please find below Pro Edge’s Under-the-Radar College Football Best Bets:

Toledo (+1.5) (-110) over Ball State

  • Toledo is the better team overall and has a very good offense that is 0.5 yards per play better than average with quarterback Terrance Owens and running back David Fluellen on the field together.  Indeed, Toledo maintains a significant 1.0 yards per play advantage offensively over Ball State’s stop unit.

Buffalo (+1) (-110) over Connecticut

  • The situation strongly favors Buffalo as the Huskies are coming off an emotional 24-21 loss to Michigan in a game in which they led 21-7 in the third quarter.  Moreover, Connecticut head coach Paul Pasqualoni is 8-16 ATS, including 3-7 ATS as a favorite, 2-8 ATS versus non-conference opponents and 4-11 ATS in the first half of the season.  Pro Edge also believes that Buffalo is the better team in this game.

Idaho (+7.5) (-110) over Temple

  • This game involves a matchup between two bottom-feeders, but the Owls have no business laying points on the road against anyone.  Temple has yielded 520 or more yards in each of its three games this season, while Idaho is averaging 359 yards per game offensively.  Moreover, road favorites of more than 7 points are just 42% ATS over the years (151-206-4 ATS), including 57-102-2 ATS if the home team is 2 games or more below .500.  Finally, college football teams that lose as favorites of 18 or more points are only 21-42-1 ATS in their next game as a favorite against a team coming off a loss, including 0-6 ATS off a bye week.

Colorado State (-13.5) (-110) over UTEP

  • UTEP has been a huge disappointment this season and is walking into a buzz saw Saturday afternoon.  Some sports bettors will question whether Colorado State will suffer a letdown after facing Alabama, but teams off a SU loss (but ATS win) against the defending national champions are a perfect 7-0 ATS in their next game.  Also, UTEP is 1-15 ATS as underdogs of less than 20 points versus a .499 or worse opponent with revenge.  Colorado State is a vastly superior team on both sides of the ball and we like the Rams to win by at least three touchdowns.
