Oskeim Sports’ NBA Betting Report for Tuesday, April 4, 2017

There are eleven NBA games scheduled for Tuesday and, based upon the current point spreads, the betting market appears to offering sports bettors with decent investment opportunities.

Interesting, two of the more disappointing teams in the NBA – Charlotte and Brooklyn – are both playing excellent basketball down the stretch. In fact, the Hornets have pulled within one game of the 8th and final NBA playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Meanwhile, Brooklyn is still playing hard in the final days of the 2016-17 campaign, winning five of its last seven games and covering the spread in 12 of its last sixteen games overall.

The 76ers have lost three straight and six of their last 8 games overall and just lost both Robert Covington and Jahlil Okafor to season-ending knee injuries.  Philadelphia also lost both Joel Embid (knee) and Jerryd Bayless (wrist) to season-ending injuries earlier this season.

The betting market continues to undervalue both Charlotte and Brooklyn, which is why I like both squads to win their respective games outright tonight.

Utah is another potential investment candidate on Tuesday, but injury concerns are keeping me away from the Jazz for the moment.  Point guard George Hill has missed three straight games with a groin injury and has been downgraded to ‘out’ for tonight’s game against Portland.

The Jazz will also be without point guard Raul Neto, who is going to miss his fourth consecutive game with a groin strain. Rodney Hood, who is averaging 12.9 points per game this season, remains sidelined with a knee injury.

However, the situation strongly favors Utah in that the Trail Blazers were forced to play a makeup game last night against Minnesota and will be arriving in altitude without rest.  Portland will also be without Jusuf Nurkic, who is sidelined by an injury.

The technical analysis is enough to keep me away for good as the Trail Blazers are 8-2 ATS when seeking to avenge a loss by 17 points or more, including a perfect 4-0 ATS as underdogs of six or more points.

Utah is coming off a revenge affair of their own against the Spurs, which is significant in that the Jazz are a money-burning 2-8 SU and ATS after clashing with San Antonio.

Oskeim Sports’ NBA Opinions for Tuesday:

  • Brooklyn Nets (+1) (-110)
  • Charlotte Hornets (+4) (-110)

Unfortunately, the lines in both games have moved against us as Brooklyn is now a favorite, while the Hornets are down to +3.5 at most sports books.
