Major League Baseball’s Best and Worst Pitchers in June

Jun 1, 2010

My handicapping database closely tracks how individual pitchers perform on a month-to-month basis as it provides valuable information to a sports investor.  While certain pitchers leave spring training and immediately dominate early in the season, other hurlers struggle to regain their dominance and control from the previous season.  In order to obtain the most relevant information, I only used pitchers with a minimum of ten starts.  Please find below a detailed list of the best and worst pitchers in June:

Pitchers Worthy of a June Investment

  1. Gavin Floyd: 10-2
  2. Dan Haren: 13-4
  3. Felix Hernandez: 12-2
  4. Scott Kazmir: 8-4
  5. John Lackey: 11-4
  6. Ricky Nolasco: 8-2
  7. Andy Pettitte: 11-5
  8. Tim Wakefield: 11-5
  9. Carlos Zambrano: 14-3

Pitchers Who Should be Avoided in June

  2. Joe Blanton: 5-12
  3. Jon Garland: 5-11
  4. Livan Hernandez: 6-12

Investing on those pitchers who excel in certain months has proven to be a profitable handicapping angle, and I will continue to provide a list of those money-making pitchers as we progress through the baseball season.
