The New York Jets won for the very first time this season when they upset the Cincinnati Bengals last week. They did it without their starting quarterback Zack Wilson who is out indefinitely with a knee injury. They did it without veteran Joe Flacco who they signed to back up Wilson. The Jets beat Cincy with Mike White, a guy who has been cut five times in his career. And, White threw for 405 yards and three touchdowns in the 34-31 win.

Can White capture that magic again tonight? It’s surely possible. The Bengals defense was a pretty solid unit as is the Colts defense that White will face tonight. Prior to its loss to Tennessee last week, Indy had only given up 21 points in its previous two games – wins over Houston (31-3) and San Francisco (30-18). If you go back to a Monday night game with Baltimore where the Colts blew a fourth-quarter lead, Indy could easily be 4-0 in its last four games.

With those two wins in the last two weeks, the Colts are just 3-5 for the season. Indy is a double-digit favorite – by 10.5 points – tonight playing at home at Lucas Oil Stadium. The two teams played in the same venue last year. That game was won by the Colts who won convincingly 36-7. Philip Rivers, now retired, quarterbacked that team. Current Colts QB Carson Wentz is finally getting into the groove now as the Colts starter.

Wentz has thrown for two touchdowns in each of Indy’s last five games. He went four consecutive games without throwing an interception before throwing two in the loss to Tennessee. Still, in that 34-31 loss to the Titans, Wentz threw for 231 yards and three touchdowns.

The Jets’ offense averages just 16.3 points per game. The 34 points New York scored last week was the most for the franchise since the 2020 season. The lack of offense has prevented the Jets from covering spreads. New York is just 2-6 ATS in their last eight games. The Jets have just four wins in their previous 20 and they haven’t fared well away from home. The Jets are 0-5 ATS in their last five road games.

Indianapolis covered in four straight games before its loss as a 3-point favorite last week. The Colts are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games at Lucas Oil Stadium, but they do play well in primetime games. In their last seven primetime games, the Colts are 6-1 ATS.

What is interesting is that both the Colts and the Jets trend toward the Over. Tonight’s total is 46 which reflects the Jets’ offensive woes and a pretty decent Colts defense. Despite a high-powered offense, the Jets have seen the Over hit in four of their last five games. It’s the same for the Colts where the Over has cashed in four of the last five Indy games. The total has gone Over in seven of the last ten Jets-Colts games.
