It’s another battle for Los Angeles tonight as the Lakers (22-25) take on the Clippers (25-24) in the third meeting of the season between the two teams. Despite not having played since November 9, the Clippers lead the Lakers 2-0 in the season series after winning their most recent matchup 114-101. Paul George stepped up that night with 29 points on 58.5% shooting while Kawhi Leonard was out of the lineup. The Clippers, who are finally healthy, have defeated the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks in back-to-back games since Leonard’s return to the lineup.

The Los Angeles Lakers have also won two straight games and three of their last four. The Lakers beat both the Portland Trail Blazers and the Memphis Grizzlies in consecutive games.  They overcame a 25-point deficit at the half to defeat Portland, and their victory over Memphis ended the Grizzlies’ 11-game winning streak. The Lakers created a small stir this week when they acquired forward Rui Hachimura from the Washington Wizards in exchange for guard Kendrick Nunn and three second-round draft selections.

The Lakers have played considerably better during their last 12 games after a terrible start to the season. They are an 8-4 in those 12 games, with three of those losses coming by a combined total of 10 points. Bettors like the Lakers’ 9-3 ATS record in those 12 games even better. LeBron James has been a major asset, essentially carrying the team until Anthony Davis is back in the lineup. James is averaging 35.1 points per game over his last 10 games.

The current game’s point total is 232. That is 5.5 points more than the greatest point total in their previous two meetings, both of which resulted in the Under. With no significant injuries to impact players, tonight’s game could be an offensive show. James is on fire and the Clippers have both George and Leonard in the lineup.

The Lakers have a top 10 offensive rating over their last 12 games, scoring more than 120 points in seven of them. With George and Leonard’s addition, the Clippers have improved significantly over their last two games, scoring 121.5 points per game on average. In the last ten head-to-head meetings, the teams have averaged 215.1 points and the O/U record is 4-5-1. The Clippers actually have the highest Under percentage in the league this season. Their O/U mark is 19-30, which means 61.2 percent of their games have gone Under the total.

The Clippers are just 4-9 SU in their last 13 games and 3-9 ATS in their last 12. They have owned the Lakers in this LA city rivalry. The Clippers have won nine straight over the Lakers and they are 9-1 ATS in the last ten. When playing as the road team in Crypt.com Arena, the Clippers are a perfect 11-0 ATS.

The Lakers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games and 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 games played in January. The Under is 6-1 in the Lakers’ last seven games and 5-1 in their last six at home.
