Game: Boston Celtics @ Milwaukee Bucks
Time: 7:30 p.m.
Odds: Celtics +9, Bucks -9
Total: 226
The top two teams in the Eastern Conference will meet tonight at the Fiserv Forum. The Milwaukee Bucks (39-17, 33-22-3 ATS) and Boston Celtics (41-16, 30-26-1) lead the East and both clubs enter tonight’s game riding significant winning streaks. Boston is on a four-game run and Milwaukee has won 10 straight.
The lines for tonight’s game have adjusted significantly with the updated injury report. Milwaukee opened as a four-point favorite, but that number has moved to the Bucks -9. Boston’s Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown were already listed as out and now Jayson Tatum is listed as doubtful with an illness.
Boston has beaten Milwaukee in four of the last five meetings, but the Bucks have won seven consecutive games at home.
With a 119-109 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday, the Celtics extended their winning streak. Surprisingly, Derrick White (23 points) and Sam Hauser (20 points) were Boston’s top scorers on the offensive end, while Ja Morant (25 points) was the only player for Memphis to reach 20 or more points.
Four out of the five starters for the Celtics are injured, adding to the team’s injury troubles. In addition to Tatum, Smart, and Brown, Robert Williams III (ankle) is listed tonight. With so many injuries, look for White to play a bigger role than he has in recent weeks.
The Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 119-106 on Friday to win their tenth game in a row. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the way with 35 points, and Brook Lopez had a good game for Milwaukee with 22 points and 15 rebounds.
Antetokounmpo returned with a vengeance after missing a few weeks in January due to a knee injury. He led the Bucks in scoring in nine out of ten games during their winning streak and scored 30 points or more in eight of those games. Throughout the streak, Milwaukee has been scoring an amazing 124.7 points per game, which is 10 points above its season average.
The Celtics are 6-1 SU and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games. They have had great success against Milwaukee in recent years. In addition to winning four of the last five against the Bucks, Boston is 7-0 ATS in the last seven games played in Milwaukee. In the last 15 overall head-to-head matchups, Boston is 13-2 ATS.
The Bucks haven’t lost many games lately. As mentioned, they are 10-0 SU in their last ten games. They have also won seven straight at home. The last time they played Boston at home the Bucks managed just 95 points. Milwaukee has been pouring on the points as of late.
The Under is 5-1 in Milwaukee’s last six games. The total has gone Under in six of Boston’s last seven road games and these two teams have repeatedly played some low-scoring games. In the last ten games in the series, the final combined score has averaged 215.8 points.
