After finishing the 2017-18 campaign with 27 wins, UNC-Greensboro seeks to win its 24th win this season and, by doing so, securing a season-sweep over East Tennessee State. The Greensboro Coliseum should be electric this afternoon on Senior Day.
Greensboro is 13-1 SU at home this season where it’s averaging 80.0 points per game on 47.0 percent shooting from the field. The Spartans’ attack is led by senior guard Francis Alonso, who is averaging 16.8 points per game and is on pace to become the second player in program history to reach 2,000 career points.
The Spartans also possess a very good defense that is limiting opponents to just 63.5 points per game at home this season. Overall, Greensboro is 6.7 points per game better than average (67.3 points per game to teams that would combine to average 74.0 points per game against a mediocre defense).
Sophomore guard Isaiah Miller recently set a new single-season program record for steals in a season with 84 and is fifth in the country in steals per game (3.0). Miller has recorded three games with six steals in 2018-19.
From a technical standpoint, Greensboro is a profitable 14-6-1 ATS in its last 21 games versus teams with a winning record, including 18-7-1 ATS against .601 or greater opposition. The Spartans are 6-0-1 ATS in their previous seven home games versus opponents with a road winning percentage of .601 or greater.
Let’s also note that Greensboro is a perfect 21-0 SU at home following a home tilt since December 14, 2016. The home team is 4-1-1 ATS in the last six meetings in this series, while the Spartans are 5-1-1 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
