The betting market has been slow to recognize Fullerton’s improvement as Dedrique Taylor’s squad has reeled off four straight wins, including upsets over Long Beach State and UC-Santa Barbara.
The Titans are a profitable 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games versus .499 or worse opposition, 11-5 ATS in their last sixteen conference affairs and 4-0 ATS in their previous four contests following a straight-up win. I also like the fact that Fullerton is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in this series.
Fullerton’s success is predicated on senior guard Kyle Allman, Jr, who leads the team and is third in the league in points per game at 18.4. Allman has scored 20 or more points in three of the last four games and is joined in the backcourt by fellow senior Khalil Ahmad, who is second on the team and fourth in the conference in scoring at 17.8 points per game. Ahmad is third in the league in steals per game at 1.70 and has scored double-digits in eight of the last nine affairs.
The Titans’ frontcourt is anchored by junior forward Jackson Rowe, who has already been named Big West Player of the Week twice this season. Rowe is averaging 10.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, 0.89 blocks and 0.63 steals per game in 2018-19 and leads the team in both rebounds and blocks.
The 6-7 forward was named the 2017 Big West Conference Freshman of the Years and is shooting an impressive 58.2 percent (82-141) from the field this year, the top mark in the league.
Finally, don’t be deceived by the Titans’ 8-12 overall record as they played the 7th-most difficult non-conference schedule in the nation according to KenPom.com. During their current four-game winning streak, the Titans have shot 53.3 percent from the field, while holding their opponents to a collective 41.9 percent shooting.
Fullerton has averaged 18.8 made free throws over the last four games while the opponents have made just 10.3 per game. My math model favors Fullerton by 11.82 points in this game so grab the inflated number with the Titans in what should be an absolute route.
