College Basketball Previews & Best Bets

The experts at Pro Edge Sports have found two college basketball games that offer excellent value for sports bettors.  Please find below our college basketball previews and best bets:

Washington State (+2) (-110) over Oregon State

Washington State is a hard team to bet, we understand that fact, but the Cougars are a substantially different team at home this season.  In fact, the Cougars are 5-2 SU and 3-2 ATS at home where they are limiting opponents to a mere 57.6 points per game on 40.6% shooting from the field and 30.9% shooting from beyond the arc.  There is no question that Washington State’s limited success this season has been predicated upon an excellent defense that is 7.8 points per game better than average (64.7 points per game to teams that combine to average 72.5 points per game).

Meanwhile, Oregon State continues to struggle on the road where the Beavers are 2-5 SU and 3-4 ATS on the season.  The Beavers refuse to play defense away from home where they are allowing 76.6 points per game on 46.8% shooting from the floor and 41.2% from three-point territory.  Overall, Oregon State is 0.7 points per game worse than average defensively (74.4 points per game to teams that would combine to average 73.7 points per game).  What our experts like most about this game is the fact that Oregon State is coming off an impressive 80-72 upset win over in-state rival Oregon and now applies to a very negative 21% ATS road letdown situation.

Richmond (-2) (-110) over Massachusetts

Massachusetts continues to be one of our favorite teams this season, but the Minutemen have a difficult task tonight against a Richmond squad that is limiting opponents to just 62.3 points per game at home on 38.8% shooting from the field.  The Spiders have won three consecutive games against Top 25 teams at Robins Center (4 of last 5 overall), including an 86-74 win over VCU on January 24.  The situation favors Richmond as the Minutemen are playing their third consecutive road game and have failed to cover the point spread in four of their last five games overall.

There is no question that Massachusetts is the better team on paper, but the oddsmakers in Las Vegas are showing their hand by installing unranked Richmond as 2-point favorites over the No. 13 Minutemen.  Let’s side with the perceived error by laying the points with Richmond.
