The 2021 NFL Draft will feature some of the top talent from the college football scene being selected to both struggling teams and playoff contenders. Clemson’s quarterback Trevor Lawrence is slated to be the first overall pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars and will have all eyes on him to be the face of the Jaguars franchise.
Outside of Lawrence, though, this draft class features some premier offensive talent including some high-level quarterbacks and skill players. Is Lawrence a betting lock to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2021? Here are the top five current 2021 NFL OROY betting odds.
#5 – TE Kyle Pitts (+1000)
One of the most polarizing prospects in this draft class just so happens to be the only non-quarterback on this list. Florida tight end Kyle Pitts is slated to possibly be a top-five selection on draft day, but any team that selects him is getting a dynamic playmaker. Depending on the team he goes to, Pitts may not end up as one of the best offensive rookies in the league, but one of the best offensive players in the league. If he goes to Atlanta, which many experts think he might, he could be one of the better bets (from a betting odds and value perspective) to win the award.
#4 – QB Mac Jones (+800)
Of all the quarterbacks in this draft class, Alabama quarterback Mac Jones is certainly the one that is talked about more than any of the other prospects. The former Crimson Tide signal-caller is rumored to be the selection of the San Francisco 49ers with the third overall pick. After a successful season as the starting quarterback with Alabama in 2020, winning a National Championship, Jones could possibly be the 2021 NFL OROY if he goes to the best team with quality talent surrounding him.
#3 – QB Zach Wilson (+600)
BYU quarterback Zach Wilson has quickly made his presence known in this class of quarterbacks. The BYU product experienced a major jump in his play in 2020 and is expected to be the second overall pick to the Jets. Why should Wilson be considered a top OROY bet for 2021? With the Jets’ new coaching staff and offensive scheme, Wilson’s play style could be well-suited for the Jets as they surround him with more skill players. Wilson might be third on this list, but he could be a bet with a big payoff if he comes through.
#2 – QB Justin Fields (+400)
Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields played in a National Championship game in 2020, and yet somehow might end up as the fourth or even fifth quarterback taken in the 2021 NFL Draft. Even though he may fall in the draft, Fields is still the player with the second-highest odds to win the 2021 NFL OROY award. Fields is an athletic quarterback with a big arm who would fit well for a number of quarterback-needy teams including Denver, San Francisco, New York, and Detroit.
#1 – QB Trevor Lawrence (+200)
The number one pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and the player with the best betting odds to win the 2021 NFL OROY award belongs to Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence has long been considered to be the best quarterback in the class and the best player in the draft. If Jacksonville can build a quality roster around him, Lawrence will be a shoo-in to win the offensive rookie honors.
